Yoto · the library method

A few cards, endless podcasts.

Every playlist you send from Kids Podcasts lands in your Yoto app library and stays there, updating itself. A blank card is just a pointer to one of them, and you can point it somewhere else in ten seconds. So a family needs a handful of cards, not one per show.

Three parts

How it works.

1

Send a show to your Yoto library

Once per show. It keeps itself fresh after that.

Step 1 · Connect Yoto once

In Kids Podcasts, on the app or at kidspodcasts.com, open the grown-up area and choose Connect Yoto. Sign in with the same login you use in the Yoto app. You only do this once per family.

Step 2 · Send a show or playlist
  1. 1Open any approved show, a Kids Podcasts playlist, or one you built
  2. 2Tap Send to Yoto and pick a card cover if asked
  3. 3Wait a few minutes — the newest episodes are converted and delivered (long playlists are split across more than one library entry automatically)
Step 3 · Find it in the Yoto app

Tap My Library, then Make Your Own. Your playlist is there with its cover and an icon for every episode. New episodes are added for you as they come out, so you never send it again.

2

Link a blank card

About ten seconds, with your phone or the player.

Step 1 · Open the playlist

In the Yoto app, open the playlist and tap Link to a card.

Step 2 · Choose how to link
  • With your phone: hold a blank Make Your Own card to the top edge of your phone and wait for the confirmation.
  • With the player: insert the blank card, tap Link in the pop-up on the player, wait for the red record icon and then the green tick. Take the card out and put it back in to play.
Step 3 · Label it and hand it over

Slip a label into the card's sticker pocket (more on that below), then let your kid take it from here.

The library method

Keep a few cards. Relink them as often as you like.

Think of the Yoto library as the bookshelf and the cards as bookmarks. You do not need a card for every show.

  • Keep a small set of cards. Three to five blank cards is plenty for most families.
  • Send everything you might want. Send every show your kid likes to your Yoto library once. Each one keeps updating in the background whether or not a card currently points at it.
  • Relink when interests change. When a show falls out of favor, open a different playlist in the Yoto app, tap Link to a card, and tap the same card. The old link is replaced. Nothing is lost, because the old playlist is still in your library, ready to relink later.
  • Rotate by routine. Many families keep one bedtime card, one car card, and one “whatever is new this week” card, and simply relink those three as needed.
  • No resending needed. Relinking never involves Kids Podcasts. Once a show is in your Yoto library, swapping cards around happens entirely in the Yoto app.
Labeling cards you keep relinking

Because a card's contents change, a permanent printed label goes stale fast. Sticker pockets solve this: small clear self-adhesive sleeves that stick to the card front and hold a swappable paper slip. Print or hand-write a slip for each show and swap it when you relink the card. A colored dot per routine, say blue for bedtime and red for the car, helps younger kids pick the right one.

one promise

Your other cards are yours.

Kids Podcasts never touches your other cards or purchased content. It only creates and updates the playlists it sent.
